Normally images like these made me think of Elodie comforting a sad, post-war Astor? But now they also make me think of like, teenage Adoption AU Astor going through growing-pains and Marigold comforting him.

I knew there was no bottom to the Darkling’s pain. He would just keep falling and falling.

I keep imagining Elodie having a thought like this about Lord Death / The Dark One? And it’s part of why she falls for him or decides to stay. Because his world is nothing but darkness and while he may be content with that, she knows he deserves more; that he deserves some happiness.

I like this picture because this is the kind of Marigold that Astor would have known in Professor Astor AU. Kind of waiflike and a bit eccentric. Very beautiful, of course, but a bit out of this world. She settles down so perfectly as she grows but when she’s young it’s like she doesn’t know where to put all that energy into just yet (it goes into being a good mother, into helping others etc when she’s older.) So she’s a bit of a wild child at that age and Astor’s her perfect partner in crime.
