Obviously Astor wouldn’t be dressed like this but I love the concept of him in his hood and cloak, going on walks for Elodie. And it would normally be considered scandalous for her to be alone with just another man but because it’s “SIR VAMPIRE” her “guard” like it’s “okay.” But every once in a while nervous advisors follow UNSUBTLY behind and it gives Elodie giggles.
First I obviously thought of Astor giving Elodie flowers? But then I imagined like a baby Astor in Adoption AU picking flowers for his mum in the school garden but seeing the other boys and girls giving their moms like fancy teddy bears or whatever that their dads buy for them to give. And suddenly his flowers don’t feel like enough.
Contemplative little Princess Elodie. But the sadness in the last gifs makes me think of a lot of scenes:
1. In GoT – In can picture her talking to a (painfully honest) Lady about how King Astor has “kind eyes.” “I think I could fall in love with just those eyes.” But the lady, I think pitying Elodie – reminds her that “The vampire king will appear however is most convenient to him, Princess. You should not let yourself be fooled so easily.”
2. Offering AU Elodie being bathed because The Dark One wants to see her? And Elodie remarking that he’s been very patient with her, kind. That he’s nothing at all like what she imagined? And some other person snipping at her that she’s taking advantage of that and should recognize that without pleasing him she will quickly become useless to him.
3. Dark Forest AU or Lord Death AU (the one where he saves her in the forest, not the one where he kidnaps her.) – Marigold helping her get ready for some big ball. Elodie wonders out loud why there are so many princes from foreign lands coming. “It is the first ball we have held since you became of age, little Elodie. I do believe they come to court you~” And it makes Elodie feel like…this cold wash of dread? It may or may not be when she realizes she has feelings for Astor / Lord Death.
I would do anything for you, sir. Anything that was right.
Sorry but this part of Jane Eyre always gave me GoT Adoption Feels for Lady Elodie + King Astor. Especially when he makes up his mind to really try to seduce her? I can see him saying something to this effect. That she transfixes him, that she fascinates him or something? And Elodie standing there not knowing what to say because he hasn’t approached her in this way before.
In GoT Adoption, when they’re younger? Little Lady Elodie being solemn anytime Lady Marigold is mentioned. And when Astor asks why, (unless he doesn’t at which point she’d blurt it out) she would tell him that she heard some lord call her a whore because of how she “floats about the King.” without marrying him.
