In Adoption like – I picture a slightly older Marigold dressed like this, she’s still got this youth about her but she’s very clearly a mom. I like the idea of Astor walking like…cloak flowing, his advisors beside him but he pauses when he catches a hint of a sweet scent. Turns and finds his Queen walking alone in the courtyard, her hands catching snowflakes. Maybe he just stares and goes on or maybe he joins her idk.
I have a little headcanon that Astor’s name is so old and ancient that no one even knows it, in the Dark Forest. They just call him The Dark One or idk like He Who Rules The Shadows etc? Like he hasn’t given it to anyone until the day he gives it to Elodie. And she’d like…smile at him and tell him that she will treasure it forever? He’d maybe chuckle or joke about how now she knows him. And she’d touch his hand so gently and murmur that “I knew you long before you gave me your name.”
