  • I feel like this would be a really good moment to happen between Queen Elodie and King Astor while they’re still in this friendship stage? Like he doesn’t even say it to be sweet he just means what he’s saying? But of course she thinks it’s so kind and nuzzles his shoulder a bit and it’s like this natural, friendly bond forming.

  • I had a blippy daydream of like… Elodie and Astor having a thoroughly exhausting day? The kids had tons of things to do and were needy, various UN meetings, Astor’s deadline got pushed up and they had to go to some fancy dinner? So they get home, super late. Astor’s brushing his teeth while Elodie slips out of her dress to get ready for bed… But by the time he’s done and steps out he sees her basically passed out on the foot of their bed, still in her slip, mumbling about getting up “in a minute.” He just kinda chuckles and carries her into bed and tucks her in and they fall asleep, peaceful and sweet.

  • It’d started off as headaches. Little ones, yes. But headaches nonetheless and Astor wasn’t prone to getting headaches unless he’d been in the sun too long. That alone was enough to worry Elodie but when the pains began to occur with increasing frequency she had put her very small foot down. The diagnosis was simple enough, but the cure was something Astor fought on every possible level. Maybe it was a blow to his pride as a vampire or perhaps he feared for his looks – which he already knew so little about. However his mate’s nerves once again prevailed and it was with only with the softest scoff (which he kept to himself) that he went to get his prescription filled. Content, Elodie was humming sweetly as she watered the front yard’s new roses when her love returned. “Let me see! Oh! Oh I want to see!” She urged, shrugging off her gardening gloves and bobbing up and down before the vampire like a child about to receive a present. Really, she didn’t get what the big deal was. It was perfectly natural to experience some strain with all the hours and hours of reading he did for his work. In fact, given the sharpness of his vision one might have been surprised they didn’t realize the cause sooner. “Don’t sulk.” Elodie pouted when her husband did not immediately grant her request. “You don’t have to wear them all the time, just when it’s been a few hours. Isn’t that what the doctor said? Now let me see! Pretty please? Pleaaaaase?” She urged, giving his hips a little tug forward and reaching up to peck him imploringly on the cheek.

The second he put them on, Elodie regretted not waiting until they were inside. The short journey from their front steps to the bedroom was far, far too long. She giggled, a bashful and feminine noise that he would undoubtedly have mistaken for teasing if it wasn’t for the flaring redness of her cheeks. It was much to her delight when he bent down to give her a, much fiercer, kiss of his own. Astor looked even more devilishly handsome in his new reading glasses than she’d dared hope.

  • The kiss was nothing more than a ruse, a farce to keep the tempers of the people at bay. It did not fool near-half of the lords, she was sure, but for now it would be enough to quell their mutterings. The problem was that it did fool Elodie…if only for a second. No larger than a needle’s head, five dots of blood formed on the milky skin of her cheek where his clawed hand had tilted her face up to meet his. Her vampire husband, her vampire king… The kiss had been colder than she’d anticipated yet there was no blaming that for the tremble of her legs, quaking and quivering like saplings under the incessant march of warring soldiers. More passionate too and ten-times more confounding than she’d have thought her first true kiss would be. Yet there it was, there she was as well. But King Astor? He had departed as soon as they had closed the gates against the sight of his people below. Only the taste of his mouth on hers remained.

  • Queen Elodie wanted to avoid upsetting the woman who was, rightfully, supposed to be where she was now. Surely King Astor and the kingdom he ruled would have preferred one of their own as Queen. Instead they had her: skinny, awkward and unsure. When the elegant vampiress swept into the room it was not the knee-knockingnerves that made her dip into a respectful curtesy (a gesture that by all means should have been given to her, not from her.) It was a desire to please her husband and by extension – his mistress. Too late did Elodie realize that she would never be able to please her husband’s mistress. At least, not while she was alive.

  • “His…mistress?” The transplanted royal echoed, eyes reddening as quickly as the mottled red splashing itself across her face. It would have been foolish, selfish even, to expect fidelity from someone she hardly knew. After-all, it was she who had thrust them both into this marriage of theirs. She had acted on a lark, a headstrong need to cement the tennuous peace that held their world together. What did she know of his life before their union? Nothing…until now. But that one new sliver of knowledge felt strangely akin to a betrayal, a feeling she had no right to. /Courtesy/ she exhaled, whisper-softly. “No,” Elodie smiled, or tried to smile through her lie. “Lord Irvine, I do not mind her in the least…”

  • The thing about living in a gilded cage was that it made the outside world seem all the more appealing. It didn’t matter that she’d hardly experienced much of anything outside of the walls of the Chase family home. Elodie dreamt with fervent passion of the places she’d never been and would most likely only ever hear of. Aevum gave her freedom, but it also brought on new fears. There were so many things she didn’t know and so often she felt as if the time for her to learn them had passed. Astor, by comparison, seemed a tried and true traveler. He’d seen so much more than she could dream of – and a great deal of things she wouldn’t have wanted to glimpse even in a nightmare. The sultry tones of his rarely-heard voice gave her a peek into everything she’d missed out on. Oddly enough however, his presence also slowly began to eliminate her desire to hit the ground running. No treasure trove of sights or sounds that the world could offer would ever tempt her as much as the presence of the mysterious young man for whom, she was starting to realize, her heart had fallen. Elodie lost her dreams of escaping the familiar, the safe, to see the world because Astor had suddenly become a great deal of the former. Next to him she felt brave…brave enough to realize that there might have been more to life than proving she was not just a little girl anymore. There was a kind of courage in that…settling down, falling in love. The concept of home had never been appealing until it was embodied in a person, in him. If only she could bring herself to tell him. Maybe then, she would find herself thinking in the dreamy hours between bed and sleep, they could see it all together.

  • “Hey Dad?” – Child

    “Mmm?” – Astor

“Did you fall in love with mom at first sight?” – Child

“…No…She crept up on me. ~grins~” -Astor

“Hey! I heard that.” – Elodie

  • “Wait! Astor! No!” ~slams door back shut~ “You /can’t/ come in!”

    “…Why not?”

“Because! It’s bad luck to see the bride before the wedding!”

“…Don’t be ridiculous Elodie. I have seen you many times before.”

“I meant IN my wedding dress, Astor!”

((Obviously, I am now going to stop refraining from putting in random thoughts and notes when they occur to me. Nice going Tor-half of Elotor. ))
