It’d started off as headaches. Little ones, yes. But headaches nonetheless and Astor wasn’t prone to getting headaches unless he’d been in the sun too long. That alone was enough to worry Elodie but when the pains began to occur with increasing frequency she had put her very small foot down. The diagnosis was simple enough, but the cure was something Astor fought on every possible level. Maybe it was a blow to his pride as a vampire or perhaps he feared for his looks – which he already knew so little about. However his mate’s nerves once again prevailed and it was with only with the softest scoff (which he kept to himself) that he went to get his prescription filled. Content, Elodie was humming sweetly as she watered the front yard’s new roses when her love returned. “Let me see! Oh! Oh I want to see!” She urged, shrugging off her gardening gloves and bobbing up and down before the vampire like a child about to receive a present. Really, she didn’t get what the big deal was. It was perfectly natural to experience some strain with all the hours and hours of reading he did for his work. In fact, given the sharpness of his vision one might have been surprised they didn’t realize the cause sooner. “Don’t sulk.” Elodie pouted when her husband did not immediately grant her request. “You don’t have to wear them all the time, just when it’s been a few hours. Isn’t that what the doctor said? Now let me see! Pretty please? Pleaaaaase?” She urged, giving his hips a little tug forward and reaching up to peck him imploringly on the cheek.

The second he put them on, Elodie regretted not waiting until they were inside. The short journey from their front steps to the bedroom was far, far too long. She giggled, a bashful and feminine noise that he would undoubtedly have mistaken for teasing if it wasn’t for the flaring redness of her cheeks. It was much to her delight when he bent down to give her a, much fiercer, kiss of his own. Astor looked even more devilishly handsome in his new reading glasses than she’d dared hope.
