OMG it just occurred to me that after their breakup and once he hears that Marigold is with Percival? Even before it’s romantic? He probably writes her a bunch of letters. Nice ones at first, begging her to come back? And then like INCREASINGLY THREATENING AND CRUEL ONES. Ruthlessly reminding her that he won’t stop trying to “cure her” (and thus hurt children). AND THEN AND THEN AND THEN WHAT IF when Astor is visiting she sends him to fetch something from her desk and he finds them and sees how vicious Berk was to Marigold and just like WANTS TO RIP HIS THROAT OUT next time he sees them. (But doesn’t of course. Because jail.)
