I’ve been having this recurring thought. After weeks of being the UN Liaison to the prison; which requires her to visit the prison every week? And Astor more or less not acknowledging her beyond the necessary responses to her questions? Elodie attempts some kind gesture or something? He reacts negatively and she breaks. That moment where she comes to the realization that “it’s over.” That he either doesn’t forgive her, doesn’t love her any more, hates her for what happened during the war, for what she’s done, for where he is – etc etc? And her driving away, knowing she’ll file for a transfer from the position and will most likely never see him again. Loving him still, she finds herself wishing that one day she’ll see him and he’ll be happy. Even if it’s not with her.
